Preparation of EVM tracking, Election Commission will be able to see the machine’s location

Hemant Atri, New Delhi After the question of EVM’s Transportation Management during the elections of five states including Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, the EC has started work on its tracking plan. When the scheme comes into effect, the state’s chief electoral officer and the Election Commission will be able to see the location of any machine on their screen. The Commission has entrusted the responsibility of suggesting the tracking system to its internal technical group. It will submit the report to Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora in three weeks.

According to the sources, the technical group is working on two options. First- Whether the tracking system should be installed on every EVM used in the 2019 election. Second- There are GPS systems on the vehicles carrying these. Applying GPS systems on vehicles will be easy and less expensive.

Instructions will be issued in a month

About 90% of the new machines used in the general elections have been commissioned. In such a way, it is not practical to put the tracking system on the machines. Commission will issue necessary instructions in the next one month as soon as the recommendation of the Technical Group During the assembly elections of five states, the BJP leader’s visit to the EVM was received from the hotel, three days after the Reserve EVM voting, the disappearance of the machine by a woman officer was reported.
